The Sheriff's Computer Crime Task Force was formed in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office to combat the increase of computer-related crime. The unit carries out a forensic analysis of computer evidence seized by all law enforcement agencies within Rockland County. Online child pornography, pedophilia, business fraud, proprietary information theft, identity theft, credit card fraud, copyright infringement, counterfeiting, remarking computer intrusion (hacking) and terrorism are all areas where the Task Force has been effective.
The Computer Crimes Unit assists police agencies in the recovery of digital devices and evidence and conducts advanced forensic analysis of cell phones and other mobile devices relating to various criminal investigations. In addition, the unit is responsible for the recovery and enhancement of audio and video evidence.
